Anita (Hamphshire) Thorpe passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026. Anita passed away peacefully with many of her family and friends at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho.
Anita was born in Murray, Utah in December 1967, where she ran the hills of the Salt Lake valley with her 8 brothers and sisters and her best friend Christy Tessin.
She married Elliot Hampshire and they had 2 children, Christopher and Anthony Hampshire. She later divorced and moved to Pocatello, Idaho where she started a new life. Anita owned her own business and managed the friendship club in Pocatello for many years.
Anita married Donald Thorpe and his daughter, Erica Cochran, where she continued to do new things. She continued her cleaning business and also started a cute little nick knack store in old town Pocatello and managed her snow cone stand. Don and Anita wanted a child together. They fostered many children and found and adopted a daughter, Aleigha Thorpe where they finally felt their family was complete.
Anita loved working and raising her daughter and every other stray child in the area. She loved camping, traveling, motorcycling, boating and riding UTV/ATV’s. Shopping with her family and friends until getting kicked out of stores at closing time was her favorite thing. She would always help people in need and be there for you. Anita would never back down from any challenge and wasn’t afraid to tell you (in her opinion) how it is.
Anita suffered from diabetes and several back injuries for many years. It took a toll on her and caused her to have several unnoticed strokes until her kidneys stopped working and shut down her heart; where she was revived but never recovered from the fight.
She was Preceded in death by her mom, Gloria Burgan; sister, Tina Slick; brother, Tony Franco; stepfather, Jim Burgan; niece, Oliavia Bomolo; best friend, Christy Tessin; and her dad, Pedro Franco.
Anita is survived by her husband of nearly 28 years, Donald Thorpe, and their 4 children, Erica Cochran (Ryan Cochran), Christopher Hampshire (Cecily Hampshire), Anthony Hampshire (Jade Chrutcher), Aleigh Thorpe (Trey Neilson); 10 grandchildren, Anthony Salas, Eva Fields, Skylar Cochran, Charlie Hampshire, Tyler Cochran, Deelia Hampshire, Anasylia Saxton, Victor Hampshire, Leonidas Hampshire, Owen Hampshire; brothers and sisters, Landa Pollock (Val), Alena Franco, Carma Franco, Diana Garcia, Joe Franco, Francis Franco; many nieces and nephews and grandnephew and nieces.
Anita will be cremated and we will have a celebration of life for family and friends hopefully June 5-7. The location will be determined at a later time. It will be posted, when and where, on her and her husband, Don Thorpe’s websites on Facebook.
We thank everyone for your support and prayers. God bless everyone.
