Karen Patricia Nice-Day A Life of Love, Dedication, and Adventure:
Karen Patricia Tackley, born on June 6, 1947, in Pocatello, Idaho, lived a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication. The beloved daughter of Everett and Betty Tackley, Karen grew up in a family that cherished togetherness and a love for the outdoors. Her father Everett worked for Kraft and was transferred from Pocatello to Salt Lake City and then the Bay Area in California were she met her husband Bill Nice. Her love for the outdoors and Idaho brought her family back to Pocatello in 1976.
Karen graduated from San Carlo High in Redwood City in 1966. Some of her jobs included Price’s Corner, and as a bank teller and ATM specialist for Idaho Bank and Trust, Key Bank, and Wells Fargo. Later, she channeled her passion for exploration into a successful career as an independent travel agent, helping others discover the beauty of the world. That connection enabled her to enjoy traveling to Europe, Alaska, Canada, Mexico and many other beautiful and exciting places.
Karen's personal life was marked by profound love and companionship. She married William "Bill" Nice on October 26, 1968, and they shared over three decades of happiness until his passing in 2001. Together, they raised two sons, Billy and Brian, who were the pride and joy of their lives.
Karen's strength and warmth continued to shine as she found love once again with Bob Day, whom she married on September 10, 2016. They enjoyed traveling the NW and visiting historic towns and scenic areas.
An active member of the Eastern Star and Job’s Daughters, Karen was committed to her community, always offering a helping hand and a kind word. Her life was also enriched by her love of travel, camping, and fishing, pursuits she enjoyed with her family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever. She was also a den mother to a bunch of cub scouts in the early 1980’s. She always had fun things to do to keep them entertained and learning something new.
Karen is predeceased by her first husband Bill, son Billy, both of her parents, and her brother Roger. She is survived by her loving second husband, Bob Day, and her son Brian. Her family remains grateful for the time they shared with her and the legacy of kindness and adventure she inspires in them. She has many surviving family members that cherished her and will miss her dearly. She was a mom to many friends in the neighborhood that considered her family.
In honor of Karen's generous spirit, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting her belief in supporting causes close to the heart.
Karen Nice-Day continues to be a beacon of love and resilience, and her story will forever inspire those who have the privilege of knowing her. She didn’t want a funeral but rather an informal celebration of life to be held at Last Chance near Island Park at a later date. It was a favorite multigenerational fishing spot that she loved.
