Obituary

Rosemary Malatchi was born in Boise, Idaho at St. Lukes Hospital in 1947 on September 14th. She was born to John and Ruby Malatchi. Unfortunately, she lost her father when she was 10 years old. She attended Madison Elementary, Lowell, Jr. High, and Boise High School. She ended up graduating from Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe New Mexico. This started a love for the Southwest.

Rosemary was married twice and had two children, Lisa Marie Nelson (Malatchi), and Michael Joseph Bethuy. Both of the siblings attended Catholic Schools in Boise. Lisa attended St. Joseph’s and Michael went to Sacred Heart. There was an age spread of 13 years between the two siblings so poor Michael really ended up with two Mother’s.

Prior to Michael’s birth, Rosemary obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Social Work at Boise Sate University. She later went onto to earn a Master’s Degree in Social Work at Highlands University in Las Vegas New Mexico. She became a Clinical Social  Worker which opened many career doors, working for the Nampa School District, the State of Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. She finally retired from the State of Nevada in Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite her many travels, she always considered Boise her home.

Rosemary always enjoyed entertainment. In her younger years, she played the violin, tap danced, and performed with her brother on the Sheriff Spud Show in Boise. Later in life, she enjoyed Salsa Dancing, Playing Bocce Ball, and traveling with family and friends.

She was blessed to have to grandchildren, Ashley Nelson Shumacher and Amber Nelson. Along with two grandchildren, she also had two great grandchildren, Hunger Wheeler and Ava Shumacher.

Rosemary passed away on July 28th, 2025 at her daughter’s home. She will be cremated in Pocatello, Idaho and to Boise to be buried at Morris Hill Cemetery (at a later date) close by her parents. She is preceded in death by 4 half siblings, and both of her parents. Her brother James (Jim) Malatchi resides in Denver, Colorado.
